New collection
As a lifelong resident of the beautiful Simi Valley and a passionate fellow business owner as well as an avid dog lover, I would like to take this opportunity to share my personal recommendations across several important categories: veterinary care, essential supplies, emergency resources, and enriching activities for your beloved furry, feathered, scaly, or water-loving family members!
🩺 Veterinary Care
If someone asked me where I’d start for routine veterinary care, I’d recommend:
- Simi Valley Animal Hospital — Known for its fear-free and compassionate approach, serving dogs, cats, and even exotic pets. Their focus on reducing stress during vet visits is something many pet parents appreciate.
- Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital — A solid option for both veterinary services and boarding/daycare, which can be incredibly convenient when traveling.
🚨 Emergency & After-Hours Care
Every dog owner should know where to go after their regular vet closes:
- Simi Valley Animal Urgent Care — Open evenings and holidays for urgent medical situations when your regular veterinarian isn’t available.
🦴 Pet Supplies & Nutrition
For food, treats, toys, and everyday supplies:
- Protein for Pets — Popular among local pet owners looking for higher-quality and specialty nutrition options.
- Petco — Convenient for supplies, vaccinations, training resources, and adoption-related events.
- PetSmart — Offers grooming, training, adoptions, and a wide selection of pet products under one roof.
✂️ Grooming & Wellness
Many local dog owners use:
- Cuts N' Cuddles Grooming — Tela is an amazing groomer and talented with all types of breeds with both dogs AND cats! She also offers wellness-related pet services and is well known within the local pet community.
🐕 My Favorite “Services” to Recommend
Beyond businesses, I’d tell any dog owner to invest in:
- Regular adventure walks and sniff-focused outings.
- Positive reinforcement training.
- Puzzle feeders and enrichment toys.
- Emergency preparedness plans with a backup caregiver.
- Professional pet sitting instead of relying on neighbors when traveling.
I own PAWsome Companions, and I’d honestly put professional in-home pet sitting, dog walks, adventure hikes, and overnight care near the top of that list. Having a trusted professional care for pets in their own environment is often far less stressful than boarding for many dogs, especially seniors, anxious pups, and pets with medical needs.
If I were making a “Top 10 Dog Lover Resources in Simi Valley” list specifically for your website or blog, I could create a polished version that includes local parks, hiking trails, veterinarians, pet stores, emergency clinics, groomers, trainers, and pet-friendly businesses.
I personally don’t use these businesses, and I can’t verify individual client experiences. What I can tell you is why many local pet owners tend to recommend them and what makes them stand out in the community based on their services, longevity, and reputation.
🩺 Veterinary Care
Park Animal Hospital
What stands out is their large veterinary team, broad range of services, and long-standing presence in Simi Valley. They emphasize comprehensive care and have been serving the community since 2008. For many pet parents, having access to multiple veterinarians under one roof provides continuity and flexibility.
Simi Valley Animal Hospital
Many pet owners appreciate their focus on preventive care, wellness exams, dentistry, diagnostics, surgery, and care for both traditional and exotic pets. A strong preventive medicine approach is something experienced pet owners often look for because it helps catch problems before they become emergencies.
Rancho Sequoia Veterinary Hospital
Their appeal is convenience and breadth of care. They provide routine veterinary services, dental care, surgery, and emergency services, making them a one-stop option for many families.
🚨 Emergency & Urgent Care
Simi Valley Animal Urgent Care
What makes them valuable isn’t necessarily that pet owners hope to visit them—it’s that they exist when you need them. They’re open evenings and holidays and focus specifically on urgent veterinary situations when your regular veterinarian is closed. Every dog owner should know where their nearest urgent care clinic is before an emergency happens.
🦴 Pet Supplies
Theresa’s Country Feed & Pet
This is one of those businesses that stands out because it’s been part of Ventura County since 1983. Many pet owners appreciate stores where staff have extensive product knowledge and can help with nutrition, supplements, and species-specific recommendations rather than simply pointing to an aisle. They also support adoptions, training, microchipping clinics, and other community pet resources.
🐾 Community Resources
Pet PAWZitive
Their focus is on creating a positive veterinary experience through preventive care, surgery, urgent care, and a client-centered approach. Their philosophy emphasizes kindness, compassion, and reducing stress for both pets and owners.
Ventura County Animal Services - Simi Valley Shelter
Beyond adoptions, they’re a valuable resource for lost pets, licensing, reuniting owners with animals, and community education. Many local dog lovers appreciate having a strong municipal shelter serving the area.
As a pet care professional yourself with PAWsome Companions, the businesses I’d personally be most likely to recommend to your clients are the ones that complement your services:
- A trusted primary veterinarian
- An after-hours urgent care clinic
- A quality pet supply store with knowledgeable staff
- Local trainers and behavior professionals
- Emergency preparedness resources
That combination gives pet parents a complete support system rather than just a list of businesses.
